Stan Davis

Stan Davis has both practiced and taught law for forty years. As a lawyer, he has represented businesses, professional people, and educational institutions in court in a wide variety of commercial, business and toxic tort, product liability, environmental, employment, and regulatory disputes. As a teacher, Stan taught torts, evidence, and trial skills courses as a Professor at the University of Kansas School of Law and has designed an implemented professional development programs for many national and international law firms, teaching himself in over 200 skills courses. He began his practice in New York with the firm now known as Pillsbury Winthrop, served as an Assistant United States Attorney in the Southern District of New York, joined the firm now known as Stinson Leonard Street after teaching at KU Law, and finished his law firm career at Shook, Hardy and Bacon, from which he retired in 2015. While at Shook, Stan served as a member of the firm's Executive Committee, chair of the Business Litigation Section, and coordinator of the Professional Development Program, which includes trial, deposition, negotiation, and other practice skills programs for lawyers at all stages of their careers. Since leaving Shook, the retirement muse has led Stan back to more law school and law firm teaching, as well as trial lawyer and witness development, litigation strategy, and even the occasional trial for great clients. When not so engaged, Stan is enjoying life with his wife Kathy on their oasis outside Lawrence, Kansas, finding great happiness in biking, sailing, and spending time in the great outdoors.
