The Inside Story: How Businesses Choose Lawyers

(1.0 Law Practice Management CLE) How are outside counsel selected and what do they do? This panel will discuss the selection process and typical interactions between in-house counsel choose and outside counsel. Other areas of discussion will include the use of engagement letters, document management and retention, conflicts of interest, billing and fee arrangements, and tips on marketing oneself to in-house counsel. Numerous Kansas Rules of Professional Conduct will be addressed, including the rules governing fees, conflicts, former clients, and expediting litigation.
